With a population of just over 7,000, Devils Lake has a friendly hometown atmosphere set in a sportsman’s paradise. Its namesake lake is home to world-class fishing year-round, with anglers coming from everywhere to catch the abundant perch, walleye, bass and northern pike.

The Devils Lake Public School District has three elementary schools, two high schools, and the Lake Area Career and Technology Center. One private school serves students in kindergarten through seventh grade.

Lake Region State College in Devils Lake offers education and training in a variety of fields of study. Other nearby options are Cankdeska Cikana Community College located in Fort Totten, about 15 miles southwest of Devils Lake, and Turtle Mountain Community College in Belcourt, about 90 miles northwest of Devils Lake.
