Find the Good Life - March 2016

Finding a good life is still a priority for many Americans and North Dakota is a place of opportunity. With the continuing goal of making job seekers aware of the opportunities across the state, the Good Life initiative has strategies in place to continue building this awareness. 

Beginning February 1, the new METRO Green Line light rail running from Minneapolis to St. Paul has worn a full advertising wrap touting the Good Life branding and several enticing lifestyle photos of North Dakota. These ads appeared on both sides of the train and are nearly 100 feet long. This new route has seen ridership of over a million in its first months and includes stops at well-known sites like Target Field, Nicollet Mall, Government Plaza, Stadium Village and Central Station. 


Good Life attended the Minnesota Private College Job Fair and the University of Minnesota Job Fair, February 16-19 in Minneapolis, which had over 4,500 students attend. Representatives from North Dakota talked to students about ND career and internship opportunities. These representatives came fr0217160826.jpgom ND Department of Commerce, Sanford Health, BCBSND/Noridian, and Bethany Retirement Living. This effort was part of the Find the Good Life in North Dakota Initiative that also coincided with the Minnesota marketing push for February (train wrap, Pandora ads, digital campaign). Following the event, we received great feedback from attending employers on the quality of candidates and they would likely attend the 2017 events.

While WI, OH, MI and IL are also targeted with most of the campaign channels, the Minnesota markets were chosen for many reasons.

Recruiter Network Update

The Recruiter Network continues to grow as there is currently 76 individuals representing 33 companies. The newest members of the network included the Anne Carlsen Center, Houston Engineering, EAPC Architects Engineers, Bethany Retirement Living and Tecton Products. The agenda and deliverable resources continue to be geared toward recruiters and human resource professionals who are interested in collaborating to attract a talent pool to North Dakota.

KLJ hosted the February quarterly meeting which included a Find the Good Life and Hiring Our Heroes update, a presentation and discussion by Job Service North Dakota on Labor Market Information and upcoming job fairs, and a member-lead discussion on recruiting topics that are current to organizations. Topics ranged from improving our North Dakota image and community images, recruiting in a changing market, introducing industry and company culture to youth, and success stories with social media resources. KLJ presented on their company providing information and statistics to their success and their processes.
